The Chapelle de Notre-Dame de Montaucivey was built in 1855. An orientation board at the chapel helps visitors interpret the panorama visible from this hill. The Croix du bas de la Grande Côte is a 16th-century mission cross and has been classified as a Monument historique since 1990.
The Houtau grain hall was renovated in 2020–2021 and now houses, among other things, a cinema and a library. The Rougemont lavoir now serves as an exhibition venue. The Musée de la Maison d’Autrefois, housed in an authentic winegrower’s house, depicts the lives of farmers and winegrowers at the end of the 19th century. The museum includes antique furniture, tools and everyday objects that illustrate the work of times gone by.
The Musée de Paléontologie Géologie et des Minéraux contains nearly 500 geological and palaeontological specimens.
History and Local Character
La Grande Fouille is a brocante held since 1980 on the last Sunday in July. The history of winegrowing is also part of the village’s character: through the « Champ Poté 2000 » association, Rougemont has revived its winegrowing tradition.
Nature and Trails
Rougemont has numerous hiking trails and wooded areas that are popular with walkers. The area on the left bank of the Ognon and along the Le Drigeon stream in Rougemont is suitable for leisure activities such as fishing and canoeing.
The Voie Verte de la Vallée de l’Ognon passes through Rougemont. The Voie Verte has followed this route since July 2020; the approximately 10-kilometre section in the Rougemont area runs along a former railway line between Montagney-Servigney and Bonnal.
