Lac de Malpas is a small glacial lake in a wooded hollow at an altitude of 925 metres. It borders the village of Malpas and lies entirely within the Natura 2000 area.

Nature
In the Natura 2000 area “Lac et tourbières de Malpas, les prés Partot et le bief Belin”, wetlands of great ecological importance have developed around Lac de Malpas and the Bief Belin and Ruisseau de Malpas streams.
The wetland habitats in the Natura 2000 area around Lac de Malpas and the Bief Belin and Ruisseau de Malpas streams include neutrocline and alkaline fens, active and wooded raised bogs, tall-herb communities, willow scrub and floating mats of vegetation.
The peat bogs of Malpas are particularly well preserved. The Natura 2000 area is home to numerous rare and protected animal and plant species.
Hiking
The Tour du Lac de Malpas is an easy 4.9-kilometre circular hike lasting about one hour. It is marked in yellow and blue and bears route number 6. The tour starts and ends at Place de l'Église in Petit Malpas.
Culture
The church of Malpas was built between 1726 and 1728. Its typical Comtois bell tower was restored from April to June 2003 after being damaged by the 1999 storm.
The church features 18th-century wood panelling on the walls of the side aisles and choir, as well as side altars, a high altar and a pulpit. These elements are attributed to the regional tradition of Baroque woodwork and are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.
