Culture

The former San Lorenzo Chapel was built at the end of the 13th century and preserves frescoes dating from the late 15th or early 16th century. The village itself also tells the story of its history: houses with medieval lower sections, cobbled lanes with numerous vaulted passageways, and large manor houses known as “i palazzi” shape its appearance.

The Stallò is housed in a large church-like hall built in the 19th century, which served for many years as the gendarmerie’s stable. It features a permanent exhibition of old photographs donated by families from the village, showing people and traditional scenes from earlier times. The Stallò also hosts temporary themed exhibitions throughout the year and serves as a venue for conferences and workshops.

“Lama Secretu” is a mobile application based on a tour in five acts with 23 stations. The tour combines elements relating to the history of the village and the surrounding nature, and follows Lama’s story from its medieval origins in 1206 to the present day.

Landscape

The area of Lama, designated as a “Site Patrimonial Remarquable”, preserves agro-pastoral features such as centuries-old olive groves, threshing floors, cultivated terraces, and wells. The vegetation along the “Sentier du patrimoine de Lama” includes wild olive trees, centuries-old olive trees, junipers, maquis, and natural meadows.

Trails

The “Chemin de la mémoire” is a 4.8 km, approximately one-and-a-half-hour round trip between Lama and Urtaca. It leads to rural features such as sheepfolds, hay barns, threshing floors, and cultivated terraces.

The “Chemin de Funtana di u Canale” is a 20-minute round trip to a spring. After a 600-metre stretch from the village entrance, a wooden sign points to the spring. The “Sentier du patrimoine de Lama” is a two-hour, 2 km circular route with little elevation gain.

The Refuge du Prunincu offers the opportunity to bivouac.

Local

GAEC Lama – Fromagerie de l’Ostriconi is a family-run business in Lama specialising in sheep farming and the production of farmhouse cheese, using traditional artisanal know-how.
