Hiking
The inter-village hiking trail from Carbuccia to Ucciani is an easy, 3.5-kilometre one-way hike with an estimated duration of 1 hour and 5 minutes. The trail reaches Ucciani at the hamlet of Crucoli; the A Filicaccia fountain is located slightly uphill from there.
Culture and History
The village is characterised by houses with square floor plans and narrow lanes. Ucciani’s bell tower dates from 1715 and was rebuilt in the 19th century.
The statue of Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel in Ucciani is made of white, carved and polished marble. It is located in the Maison Poggioli, also known as Maison Vittoli, and is classified as a protected movable cultural property.
Archaeological finds also form part of the village’s heritage: a bronze object in the shape of a wild boar, dating from the protohistoric period, was discovered at Piruchjolu. Two apparently prehistoric engraved stones were discovered in the hamlet of Pughjolu Suttanu.
