Bocognano: Holiday apartments and houses

The Intervillages Vizzavona–Bocognano route leads through high-altitude beech forests and offers views of the Gravona Valley and the Monte Renoso and Monte d’Oro massifs. It continues as far as Bocognano Town Hall.

Nature

The peaks of Pointe Laccione, Punta a u Picchiu and Punta del Ceppo are located in the vicinity of Bocognano. The Cascade des Anglais waterfall is also nearby.

Access to the Cascade du Voile de la Mariée is via the D27 towards Bastelica. After approximately 3.5 km from the roundabout at the entrance to Bocognano, you reach the Pont de Salicio; parking is available on the right after the bridge. Access to the river at the Cascade du Voile de la Mariée, including bathing, is prohibited due to the risk of falling rocks.

Culture and history

The U Palazzu ecomuseum is a local museum dedicated to traditional life in the Gravona Valley and, in particular, in Bocognano. The building was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte as a summer residence in the village of his grandmother.

Below Bocognano lies the U Mulinu di l'Orsu mill. It has two millstones powered by the force of the river: one for wheat and one for chestnuts. U Mulinu di l'Orsu is a place for walks in both summer and winter.

The ruins of Église San-Giovanni are located in the vicinity of Bocognano. The painting “tableau: sainte Lucie” is located in the Sainte-Lucie church in Bocognano.

Festivals and surroundings

The Bocognano Chestnut Fair showcases producers from all over Corsica. The Fiera di a Castagna has been held since 1982.

The wider regional area around Bocognano is home to the Musée de la Corse, the ruins of Chapelle San Giovanni and the ancient site of Monument Torréen de Foce.
