Viglain: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Viglain is part of the Natura 2000 network and lies along the Loire à Vélo cycle route, the historic Vallée des Rois route, and the Route des Illustres.

Nature

Viglain includes two ZNIEFF areas, meaning two natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest.

Culture and history

The Saint-André Church houses the medieval Saint-Sylvain bell. Dating from 1403, it is one of the oldest bells in the Loiret département. The church itself originally dates from 1154 and was rebuilt under Henry IV. Its features also include a traditional Sologne caquetoire, a covered porch described as characteristic of Sologne churches.

Opposite the church square, between the library and the school restaurant, the Saint Hubert mosaic is publicly visible. It was made entirely from Briare enamel in the 1960s.

The Saint-André spring can be seen from the Route de Tigy, on private property. It was formerly invoked as a treatment for whooping cough and consequently attracted numerous pilgrims.

The Saint-Antoine du Béon spring is located near the bridge over the Aulne and can be seen while hiking along the CR14.

Trails and golf

The PR des Fougères P18 circular trail passes between two ponds and crosses the golf course. The PR de Pailly–Les Mahis P20 circular trail crosses the Aulne River.

The PR de Lousseau P19 circular trail is around 10 km long, very easy, and takes approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes. It crosses the golf course and runs alongside the golf club building.

The Golf de Sully sur Loire in Viglain has a 27-hole course with water hazards and tree-lined fairways.

On site

Ferme de l'Aulnoy grows organic fruit and vegetables and sells them directly at the farm and at the markets in Sully-sur-Loire.
