The southern part of the municipality of Tigy lies in the Sologne, covers around two-thirds of the municipal area and is dotted with numerous ponds. Those who have chosen Tigy as their destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment here.
Landscape
The loop trail Le papillon includes a path along the edge of the forest. The loop trail also includes the Chemin des Moines, which Benedictine monks once used to get from the monastery to the fishponds.
Culture and history
The Church of Saint Martin is a 19th-century Neo-Gothic building constructed from Sologne bricks and stone from Fay-aux-Loges. It houses an inventory classified as Historic Monuments, including a towering architectural altarpiece and 17th-century wood panelling. The furnishings also include stained-glass windows bearing the Lobin signature. The church was once the site of a pilgrimage dedicated to Saint Clare of Assisi.
The Musée de l'Artisanat Rural Ancien comprises twelve rooms with reconstructions of a forge; the workshops of a clog maker, cooper and carpenter; a village shop; and a rural living environment. In the Sologne lies La Matholière, an 18th- and 19th-century château that can be seen from the road.
Local life
The Saturday market in Tigy takes place year-round on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local honey, fruit and vegetables, cheese, eggs, farm-raised meat, flowers and plants, as well as other products, are offered. Saute-Mouton sells its farm products there.
Activities
Saute-Mouton offers tours of the livestock farm, a discovery trail and educational activities focused on environmental education. Families can take part in nature workshops on gardening and wool processing there from the age of five, by prior reservation.
