Nature and trails
Until the 19th century, a large part of Vennecy’s municipal area was forested. Land clearances made way for cereal cultivation. Today, Vennecy lies between two sections of the Forêt domaniale d’Orléans.
The Scandibérique cycle route, Europe’s longest EuroVelo route, runs nearby. In addition, a shared pedestrian and cycle path connects Vennecy town centre with the station area. It runs along Rue de Chécy from Rue de Villiers to the station area.
Culture and history
The name Vennecy may date back to the ancient Veneti, an ancient population from the region around Vannes in Morbihan. Local buildings include the Église Saint-Symphorien, a simple rectangular structure with a wooden porch and a bell tower unusually positioned in front of the façade.
For 2026, it was announced that the Église de Vennecy would be open for visits on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. As an exception, it remained closed on 27 June and 4 and 11 July 2026. The church has previously hosted musical performances.
The Manoir du Rosier features an architectural style characteristic of the early 19th century. Jules Lemaître is also associated with Vennecy; he was born here on 27 April 1853.
