Sandillon is situated on the Loire and combines a distinctive riverside landscape with historic sites, craft culture and various routes through the surrounding area. The Loire forms the northern boundary of the Sandillon area in a wide meander. Sandillon is also included in the Natura 2000 network.

Nature
The Levée near Sandillon offers views of the Loire and Île aux Oiseaux. Another local feature is the Étang de la Tuilerie, where fishing takes place.
Culture and History
The Domaine de La Porte is partly listed as a historic monument and partly classified as a historic monument. It was built from 1776 onwards; its chapel was completed in 1785. The grounds of the private Château de la Porte are open to visitors. The church of Saint-Aignan de Sandillon contains a chapel dedicated to Joan of Arc.
Poterie Mirette is also one of the town’s cultural attractions. The workshop handcrafts stoneware objects in a studio near the Loire. Visitors can tour the studio and learn about the journey from earth to everyday objects, as well as the potters’ craftsmanship.
Exploring the Area
The “Boucle 05 – Crochet Solognot” route begins at the car park on Rue de la Villette in Sandillon and leads from Sandillon’s agricultural surroundings into the Sologne.
“L’histoire perdue de Sandillon” is a self-guided walking tour in which visitors follow clues via the Baludik app. The historical tour deals, among other things, with the Maquis de Samatha, a resistance group.
Sandillon can be reached by car via the D 951 and by REMI buses from the bus stations in Orléans and Sully-sur-Loire.
