Engenville: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Engenville is located in the predominantly agricultural region of Beauce and is itself largely agricultural in character. At the same time, Engenville is a starting point for exploring the Pithiverais.

History

The Larrinville family owned the lordship of Engenville in the 15th century. From the 16th to the 18th century, the de Broisset family had a major influence on local life in Engenville. In addition, Engenville is said to have originally been called “Ingenis Villa” in the 11th century.

Culture

The Saint-Denis church stands in Engenville’s village square. It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries and was recently restored.

Rural Landscape

The Circuit des mares passes through the Pithiverais and the Engenville–Ezerville area. It can be explored by car or bicycle. The circular route showcases remarkable ponds typical of the rural surroundings as part of the local rural heritage; thematic information panels about the ponds are placed along the route.

The Mare d’Ezerville in Engenville is part of the Circuit des mares. The ponds along this circular route were used as watering places and reservoirs for firefighting water and are now being enhanced to promote biodiversity.

Sightseeing

A tour of the SIDESUP company is offered in Engenville. It shows how beet pulp and alfalfa are dried and pressed into pellets for animal feed. Advance booking is required for the SIDESUP tour.

Surroundings

The Saint-Salomon-et-Saint-Grégoire church is located in nearby Pithiviers. Nearby Pithiviers is also home to a transport museum.

Getting There

Engenville can be reached by car via the A 19 and the D 921. Engenville can also be reached by Cars-REMI buses from Étampes and Pithiviers.
