Sainte-Catherine-De-Fierbois: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The parish church of Saint-Catherine was founded in 1431 and has been classified as a historic monument since 1862. The Maison du Dauphin was built in 1478 by Sire d’Estouteville, Lord of Sainte-Maure. The protection of the Maison du Dauphin covers the residential building, listed in 1927, and the well, listed in 1928. Traditionally, a stay by Charles VII is also attributed to the house.

The statue of Joan of Arc is located on Place Jeanne-d’Arc in Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois and was inaugurated on 23 March 1895. Its inscriptions record that Joan of Arc stopped in Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois on 5 March 1429 and had her sword requested there on 23 April 1429.

The Maison du Dauphin is distinguished by four windows with mullions and transoms, a low basket-handle-arched door, and gables decorated with crockets, at the base of which sit two winged dragons. The Protestant temple in Bois Saint-Maurice, south of Sainte-Catherine, was built in 1958 for services of the Dutch Reformed churches of the Calvinist tradition.
