Saint-Patrice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The historic heritage of Saint-Patrice includes a church that is still used for services today and a necropolis. The church was built in 1849 and consecrated on 9 April 1850. It is decorated with high-quality, recently restored stained-glass windows, most of which bear the signatures of the glass painters Lobin or Fournier, and is known for its excellent acoustics.

Culture

The Romanesque church has a large, single-nave, unvaulted nave, typical of regional architecture from the 11th century. At the beginning of the 12th century, this nave was extended with a square choir featuring thicker walls. A bell-tower porch was built at the entrance in the 13th century; it was formerly covered by a rib vault.

The first church of Saint-Patrice was associated with a priory community founded around 1032, after Archambault gave the church and land to Noyers Abbey for the settlement of people. The cemetery of Saint-Patrice contains the burial chapel of the de Castellane family.

The finds from the necropolis of Saint-Patrice date from the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. A square, masonry-built enclosure was also uncovered at the necropolis. The site included both inhumation burials and cremation burials.

The hamlet of Les Forges is crossed by a road called „la voie romaine“. Its name recalls the ancient road between Tours and Angers. The Château de Rochecotte in Saint-Patrice was owned by the Duchess of Dino, who lived there through some of her best years away from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

Domaine Omasson Nathalie offers wine tastings at the estate in Saint-Patrice by prior appointment. O Coeur des Vignes combines tastings of wines produced on site with lavish picnics.

O Coeur des Vignes also offers guided or self-guided excursions on retro electric scooters through the Bourgueil vineyards, heathlands and idyllic paths.

Landscape and trails

The „Circuit vélo n°31“ cycling route is a 24-kilometre road cycling route with a stated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Along this route, the Château de Rochecotte can be seen in Saint-Patrice. The long-distance Chemin de l'été de Saint-Martin trail includes a hiking stage from Saint-Patrice to Langeais, measuring 10.8 kilometres in length and with a stated duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

The Coteaux-sur-Loire area borders the Loire over a length of 5 kilometres. The northern part of Coteaux-sur-Loire consists of forests and heathlands extending 4 kilometres from north to south and 3 kilometres from east to west.
