Ferme du Chêne Pilé covers a twelve-hectare site, more than 1,500 m² of which are dedicated to preserving old machinery and tools. Traditions et Loisirs aims to preserve Ferme du Chêne Pilé as a rural cultural ecomuseum and open it to those interested in history.
The protected and operational Merlin steam traction engine at Le Chêne-Pilé is used in particular every year during the main festival, the Fête Paysanne in August. The Merlin steam traction engine was built in 1923 by the Merlin workshop in Vierzon (Cher). The Fête Paysanne takes place every year over a weekend and showcases customs from the last century. Authentic craftspeople demonstrate traditional rural trades; the festival also includes traditional threshing powered by a steam traction engine.
At Les Ruchers de la Castelvalérie, beekeeper Jean-Marie welcomes visitors to his site, which has around fifty beehives. The shop offers rapeseed, acacia, linden, forest, wildflower and sunflower honey.
Nature
The large-flowered orlaya, considered regionally extinct, has found refuge in the La Morellière conservation garden in Saint-Laurent-de-Lin. The La Morellière conservatory offers tours and community work sessions.
On 25 April 2026, the event “Balade et formation découverte Serpents et Lézards de Touraine” took place at Morellière in Saint-Laurent-de-Lin and was accessible by prior registration only. Participants observed wild snakes and lizards in their natural habitat and learned about them.
Trails and Landscape
Three signposted walking trails lead from the village of Saint-Laurent-de-Lin through the bocage landscape of the Loire Valley, with lengths of 7.3 km, 11 km and 18 km.
