In addition, “Mémoires de la Route Nationale 10” uses 12 information panels to tell the story of National Route 10; this tour is available in English and Spanish.

For cyclists, “Les Troglos de Courtineau”, cycling route no. 37, runs for 32 kilometres from Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine through the Manse Valley towards Saint-Epain and Crissay-sur-Manse. The Scandibérique, also known as EuroVelo 3, also runs between Tours and Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine.

Culture and History

The Chapelle des Vierges is dedicated to Sainte-Maure and Sainte-Britte. It was built in the 19th century on the remains of a 14th-century chapel and completed on 24 April 1892.

The Sainte-Maure Sainte-Britte church replaced an earlier church in the 12th century; until the 20th century, it was dedicated to Saint Blaise. The market halls in the centre of the square were rebuilt in the 15th century and restored by Anne de Rohan in 1672. The Maison d’Estouteville is a building erected in the 15th century and has been protected as a historic monument since 1947.

Place du Ha-ha opens onto a former road to Spain that is still used by pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela. The “Enquête Game” is a treasure hunt through Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine that requires a reservation and features escape-room-style puzzles, allowing participants to discover the town and its history.

Local Production

EARL La Haute Piltière offers guided tours of its goat farm. Visitors get to meet the goats and learn more about cheese production.

The “Scénographie des Passerelles” is a self-guided interactive exhibition about the production of Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine AOP goat cheese. It also explains the straw in the cheese and its engraving. For Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine AOP cheese, the name of the appellation and the identification number of the cheesemaker are engraved on the straw.
