Landscape and wine
Limeray lies at the foot of the northern slope of the Loire and in the Loire’s alluvial plain. The Touraine-Val de Loire tourist wine route passes through the town.
Limeray is one of ten wine-growing municipalities in the protected designation of origin (AOP) “Touraine-Amboise”.

Geographical location
Limeray is located in the Loire Valley, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.
Culture and history
The Église Saint-Saturnin is a small rural building from the 12th century, which was re-vaulted in the Angevin style in the 16th century. Its Romanesque bell tower was classified as a historic monument in 1992.
The Manoir d’Avisé has a polygonal stair tower, a chapel with traces of 16th-century wall paintings, and features of domestic architecture from the 15th century. It is privately owned; its façades and roofs, the interior of the chapel, the staircase, and four fireplaces on the first floor were listed as historic monuments in 1984.
The façades and roofs of the Ancien Palais de Justice ou Audience were listed as historic monuments in 1968. Inside, the traces of the column bases that marked the seat of the feudal lord presiding over the court have been preserved.
The Château de Moncé was built between 1845 and 1846 on the site of the church of the Cistercian Abbey of Moncé, founded in 1209.
The preserved tomb of Théophane de Poltava is a place of pilgrimage for Russian Orthodox believers.
