Culture

The Église Saint-Laurent in Charentilly has been listed as a historic monument since 6 March 1947. Its furnishings include a 13th-century stained-glass window with five panels, which is classified as a historic monument. The church also has a wooden porch. The south wall of the nave and the flat east wall were partially rebuilt in the 13th century; the walls and gables were raised in 1746.

The Manoir des Ligneries was transformed, through a concession granted by Louis XII, into a fortified manor house with moats, towers, turrets, and loopholes. Today, the estate comprises a 15th-century residential wing made of brick and stone, a 16th-century building with a cylindrical turret, and a cylindrical dovecote.

Hiking and Trails

Le Chemin de la Petite Choisille is an easy 7.2-kilometre hiking trail with a 1.1-kilometre variant and red trail markings. Le Chemin des Grandes Tailles is 11.7 kilometres long and has a moderate level of difficulty; it includes a 0.5-kilometre variant with yellow trail markings.

The trail passes the bridge over the Petite Choisille, a washhouse, and the Moulin Banal. On the Rue du Moulin Moreau, it also passes the former Moulin à foulon. The Via Sancti Martini also runs through Charentilly.

Charentilly’s rural landscape encompasses approximately 500 hectares of high forest interspersed with ponds, meadows, and grain fields.

Chateau Du Plessis, a château, is located in the immediate vicinity of Charentilly. The surrounding area of Charentilly also includes Château de Baudry, a château, Château de Luynes, a château, and Château de Tours, a château. Parc Honoré-de-Balzac, a park, is also located nearby.

The Château de Poillé estate includes contemporary outbuildings, a large park, and a chapel dating from 1856. The Château de Poillé was built in 1838 by the architect Phidias Vestier for Charles Moisant.
