Chapelle-Guillaume: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Chapelle-Guillaume, a long architectural history combines with the landscape of the Yerre. The Manoir du Pré dates back to the 13th century. During the Hundred Years’ War, it was burned down and rebuilt at the end of the Middle Ages. The ensemble includes a half-timbered residential building facing southeast and outbuildings arranged around a courtyard.

Nature

The Yerre rises in the Forest of Montmirail within the territory of Chapelle-Guillaume. In 2022, a 2.5-kilometre section of the Yerre along the municipal promenade as far as the Chemin rural des Fontaines was restored. The riverbed was renaturalised to create new aquatic habitats and increase the water depth in summer.

Culture

The historic site of Abbaye Saint-Laurent du Gué-de-Launay is located in the vicinity of Chapelle-Guillaume. The wider regional area also includes Château Saint-Jean, the Musée de l'histoire du Perche and the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame des Clairets.

The Notre-Dame Church in Chapelle-Guillaume was remodelled several times in the 19th century. Its bell tower was rebuilt in 1827 after being destroyed by a hurricane. The church is documented as early as around 1070, when the Seigneur de Braitel donated it to the monks of Marmoutier near Tours. The Château de Chapelle-Guillaume is likewise dated to 1736.

Townscape

At the entrance to Chapelle-Guillaume, the château of the Vicomte de Reviers stands on a hill. The former priory is located behind the church, about 50 metres from the road.
