Culture and History

The Romanesque bell tower and choir are partly among the oldest surviving parts of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption; the nave was largely built in the 15th century. An inscription in the church mentions a consecration on 22 March 1461.

The Eglise de Touches dates from the 13th to the 16th century. Its rectangular bell tower overlooks Mercurey and the Côte chalonnaise; the church was recently restored inside and out.

Mercurey M1 is a themed trail in Mercurey. Along the trail, around ten information boards tell visitors about Mercurey, its heritage and its landscapes. The trail passes through the Mercurey vineyards and the hamlets of Bourg Bassot, Jamproye, Bourgneuf and Touches. It also follows the GR7 towards Château de Montaigu; the château is privately owned and may not be entered.

The Étang du Pont-Latin in Mercurey is intended for fishing and offers a walk alongside the vineyards.
