History and Mining
In Blanzy, the former bottle factory in Champ Marceau operated from the beginning of the 19th century until 1911 and employed up to 300 workers. The limeworks also reflects the industrial history of the town: its first lime kiln was built in 1858, and two more lime kilns were constructed in 1870.
The Musée de la Mine is located on the site of the former Saint-Claude mine shaft in Blanzy. A visit follows the miners’ daily route through the lamp room, across the pit yard with its headframe and through the engine room, the underground galleries, and the changing and recreation room. The museum also presents a reconstruction of mining work and its development during the two centuries of coal mining in the Blanzy-Montceau basin.

Routes and Paths
In Blanzy, the former National Road No. 74 from Digoin to Sarreguemines, known as Levée du Canal, is now part of EuroVelo 6. The EuroVelo 6 route reaches Blanzy along the D974 beside the Canal du Centre. The first Balade du Petit Verrier was inaugurated at the beginning of summer 2022 and starts at the Halte nautique.
