Laives is characterized by the La Ferté lakes area, historic religious buildings, and the Roman Circuit. The La Ferté lakes area in Laives consists of three separate lakes.

Nature

Of the three lakes, one is designated for swimming and fishing; the other two may be used exclusively for fishing. The La Ferté lakes area offers swimming, which is supervised from June to August, initially mainly on weekends and daily in July and August. Private tourism providers at the site also offer water activities such as pedal boating, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking.

Culture

The Chapelle Lenoux contains polychrome frescoes depicting the Mass of Saint Gregory and the donor. Saint Fiacre is still preserved above the original portal; the portal is decorated with Flamboyant Gothic sculptures. The Chapelle Lenoux was built in 1484 by Jean GELIOT, parish priest of Touches and a native of Laives.

The Eglise Romane de Saint-Martin-de-Laives was built in the early 11th century by Benedictine monks from Saint-Pierre de Chalon-sur-Saône. The originally purely Romanesque church received two Gothic chapels in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Orientation

The Roman Circuit is a signposted, 6.5 km long route classified as easy, with an elevation gain of 80 m. It begins and ends at the village of Laives' main car park, in front of the school and the former town hall. Along the Roman Circuit, two information boards explain the panorama over the Chalonnais, the Bresse, and the Jura.
