Ciel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Ciel is located in the Doubs Valley. The Romanesque church of Ciel has a bell tower more than 50 metres high, visible from several kilometres away. By decree dated 15 November 1926, the church was listed as a historic monument.

Culture and History
The area around Ciel was once crossed by a salt road from the Jura. The main Roman road from Besançon also once ran through here. The former château, now used as a farm, is arranged around a courtyard on a former motte with a partially filled-in moat. A tall, roughly square tower rises above the residential building to the north.
A tileworks in Chapot has been documented since the 14th century; it operated until 1592. An 18th-century report also recorded a pottery in Ciel with significant sales. In 1880, another tileworks was built in Chapot near the Doubs.
Landscape
The hamlet of Chapot lies on the Doubs beside a steep, clay-rich bank considered suitable for ceramic production. The municipal area of Ciel consists predominantly of cultivated land, while the forest is concentrated along the southern edge.
On the stage between the Saône and the Doubs, La Voie Bleue shares its route with EuroVelo 6.

The historic sites of Oratoire Saint-Louis, Abbaye de Molaise and Abbaye Notre-Dame de Maizières are located in the vicinity of Ciel. In the wider regional area around Ciel is the Musée Nicéphore Niépce, a museum.
