Melay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the Espace du Pressoir, a monumental wine press dating from 1683 has been preserved. It comes from the outbuildings of the Château de Maulévrier and recalls Melay’s wine-growing past.

Culture and History

Every year in December and January, the “Melay, village des crèches” exhibition is held at the Espace du Pressoir. A weekly market also takes place in Melay every Friday morning.

The Saint-Etienne Church in Melay features a monumental mural from the 1980s. The memorial stele to the Resistance in Melay, erected in 1990, commemorates the landing of a Lysander aircraft on the night of 19–20 March 1943. Jean Moulin, General Delestraint and Christian Pineau were brought to Melay during this landing.

In Bagneaux, there is a 15th-century dovecote associated with former seigneurial estates.

The Espace de loisirs de Melay is a former quarry designed as a recreational area, with a pond for fishing.
