Culture and history
The Grange de Saulx was built by the de Saulx family in the 13th century. The Cistercians acquired it in 1449 on the initiative of their abbot, Jean Vion. The Grange de Saulx is currently used for cultural events.
The Château de Gilly-lès-Cîteaux is a legacy of the monks of Cîteaux Abbey. It was initially a Benedictine priory, was taken over by the Cistercians in the 13th century and converted into a fortress in the 14th century during the Hundred Years’ War (1337–1453).
The Church of Saint-Germain dates from the 14th century. The Pont Chevalier was rebuilt in 1679 after the Wars of Religion. For the European Heritage Days, the Amis du patrimoine et de l’histoire de Gilly organise tours of the site.
Nature and trails
The GR de pays de Grands Crus long-distance hiking trail passes through Gilly-lès-Cîteaux. The easy 17-kilometre “Sur les traces des moines de Cîteaux” route also runs through the municipality.
A short walk runs around the Vouge in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux. A footbridge beside the Church of Saint-Germain offers views over the Vouge. The municipality is also home to the remains of numerous mills.

The Church of Saint-Germain has a step-free entrance and a step-free outdoor path with a surface suitable for wheelchair access. The path is at least 90 cm wide throughout.
