Bouilland lies in the Rhoin Valley in a highly rugged landscape. The Rhoin and its tributary, the Ruisseau de Clavoillon, cross the valley from Bouilland to Savigny-les-Beaune.

Those who choose Bouilland as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Nature

Peregrine falcons and eagle owls inhabit the limestone cliffs and rock outcrops of the Rhoin Valley. The limestone cliffs and rock outcrops in the valley are used every year by numerous climbers and hikers.

Activities

The Bouilland climbing site features limestone cliffs between 10 and 50 metres high and a total of 4,000 metres of climbing routes. From the village, the climbing site can be reached via a steep paved path leading to the plateau; the car park is 200 metres away. Some climbing routes at the Bouilland climbing site are closed because of breeding eagle owls.

The long-distance hiking trail GR 7 crosses Bouilland from northeast to southwest.

Hiking

The Tour de la Vallée du Rhoin circular trail is a three-hour hike of moderate difficulty starting in Bouilland. It is 10.1 km long and has an elevation gain of 483 metres. The Tour de la Vallée du Rhoin is a circular trail offering panoramic views around Bouilland.

Culture

The circular trail optionally leads to and from the Grand Châtelet de Bouilland, a prehistoric site, and to a viewpoint on the rocky spur. The circular trail passes the car park of Sainte Marguerite Abbey, a medieval abbey, and then continues to Bouilland along the GR trail. The washhouse was built in 1860.
