Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul was classified as a historic monument by decree of 15 December 1941. Its choir dates from the late 12th or early 13th century, while the nave and side aisles date from the 15th century. The classical-style porch was built in the late 18th century, and buttresses were added at the end of the 19th century.

The Château de Minot features major construction phases from the 15th century and the second half of the 17th century. The protected ensemble includes the east tower, the chapel, 18th-century outbuildings, grilles and entrance portals, as well as boxwood and hornbeam gardens.

Minot has five washhouses with livestock watering troughs, built in the 19th century. The Lavoir du Breuil, with its livestock watering trough, is located below the château. Opposite the church, the Maison des Tabellions bears a bas-relief dated 1582 with the inscription “Mors Omnia Resolvet”.

The Maupertuis iron-mining area includes more than 40 shafts with a depth of 5 to 7 metres, as well as quarries and sinkholes.

Landscape

The Chaudière d'Enfer is a funnel-shaped karst spring south of Minot. The Digeanne rises at the Chaudière-d'Enfer spring on the Champ-Lurette slope, is subsequently fed by additional springs and streams, and then leaves the Minot area.

Paths and Routes

The Sentier de La Buge is 4 kilometres long and is considered an easy trail. It begins at the Fontaine des Creux and is marked with yellow trail signs.

The Circuit des Crêtes passes through Saint-Broing-les-Moines and then descends to Minot. It is a difficult 63-kilometre route with a stated duration of 5 hours and 15 minutes, starting in Grancey-le-Château.
