The Circuit de Penhoat is a hiking trail, also called the Circuit des Deux Vallées. It is 8 km long, takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, passes the ruins of the Château de Penhoat, and crosses the Penzé on a footbridge.
Hiking and landscape
The Circuit de Penzé, also called the Circuit de l’Estuaire de la Penzé, is 9 km long and follows the shore of the Penzé estuary for 2 km. The Circuit du Bois de Lannigou is 7 km long; the woodland along this trail features numerous different tree species.
The Circuit du Vieux Châtel is 8 km long and follows the Pennelée and a stream through a forest uphill to the Vieux Châtel. It is considered fairly easy; the descent to the Moulin de Bigodou is somewhat challenging.
Culture and history
Castel-an-Trébez is a protohistoric fortified site at the confluence of the Rivière de Morlaix and the Pennelée. Several marked hiking trails pass through Castel-an-Trébez; from there, you can enjoy a view of the Rivière de Morlaix to the north.
The Clocher de l’ancienne église is the only surviving part of the 15th-century church in Taulé. It features a thick square tower with three buttresses, topped by a balustrade and a pyramidal spire. The Clocher de l’ancienne église was classified as a Monument historique in 1914.
The Jardin de Coat-Ilès has been listed as a Monument historique since 9 October 1990 and is laid out on three terraces with carefully constructed, tiered retaining walls.
Sacred sites
The Église Notre-Dame de Penzé was rebuilt in 1789. It houses a reredos with pinnacles dating from the 17th century and a painting of the Assumption of Mary, as well as a Gothic polychrome wooden statue of the seated Virgin Mary.
The Calvaire de Porsland was erected in 1554 and is one of the oldest wayside crosses in Taulé. It overlooks the valley of the Coatanlzac’h. The Chapelle Saint-Herbot houses a crucifix as well as old statues of Saint Herbot and Saint Avertin.
