Plouigneau: Holiday Apartments and Houses

History and Architecture

The Chapelle Saint-Nicodème de Lanleya dates partly from the 17th century and has a three-sided chancel in the Beaumanoir style. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Luzivilly is a carefully constructed building from the early 16th century and houses several old statues.

The Manoir de Lanidy dates from the 17th century and has two towers. The larger, hexagonal tower has windows with tracery or mullioned divisions on its sides. The present-day Manoir de Bourouguel was built in the 17th century.

The construction phases of the Château de Coëtmen-Trojoa are tentatively attributed to the 17th century and the fourth quarter of the 19th century. During its restoration in the late 19th century, a pavilion and a stair tower were added.

The medieval Motte féodale de Coat Ar Ferté is traditionally regarded as one of the significant surviving fortifications in Plouigneau. The fortified camp of Castel-Dinan lies on a hilltop and overlooks the Douron Valley from a height of 147 m. The Gallic stele of Kroas Ar Peulven is a 3 m-high, man-made upright stone characteristic of the beginning of the Second Iron Age.

Landscape and Nature

Plouigneau's traditional agricultural landscape is characterised by bocage hedgerows as well as scattered hamlets and isolated farms.

The Cité des érables is a 2.5-hectare park with a 1.65-hectare pond fed by five springs. Geese as well as Muscovy ducks and mallards live in the park. Walking, sports activities and fishing are possible there; there is also a children's playground, sports facilities, benches and picnic tables.

Paths and Visits

Ker Dreger is a reconstructed rural village covering an area of 8,000 m². Group tours for twelve or more people are offered there year-round; visits last almost two hours, and themed workshops are available on request.

The “Vers la Chapelle-du-Mur” hike allows visitors to discover the hamlet and former estate of La Chapelle-du-Mur. The “Vers le Pont de Kéribot – Le Ponthou” route passes through the Natura 2000 area in the Douron Valley.
