Manglieu: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Ancienne abbaye Saint-Sébastien is considered one of the oldest abbeys of the Benedictine Order. The foundation of the Benedictine abbey in Manglieu is attributed to Saint Genès, the Bishop of Clermont, in the second quarter of the 7th century.

History

At the Ancienne abbaye Saint-Sébastien, preserved abbey remains are located north of the former abbey church. The cloister extended along at least two sides of the courtyard.

The Abbatiale Saint-Sébastien stands on a Carolingian foundation. The choir of the Abbatiale Saint-Sébastien is Romanesque, while the nave is Gothic.

Visiting

Individual visits to the Abbatiale Saint-Sébastien are possible independently at any time. The Ancienne église paroissiale Notre-Dame is privately owned and is currently used as an agricultural building; it also features a construction phase dating from the 15th century.
