Culture and History

The Habitat préhistorique sous abri du Blot features a sequence of seasonal occupations dating from approximately 22,000 to 11,000 years ago. It is classified as a historic monument and is owned by the municipality of Cerzat.

The Falaise du Blot also takes visitors back to prehistory: the prehistoric site is considered to be of European importance. Lithic finds attest to a Proto-Magdalenian culture dating from approximately 22,000 to 20,000 years ago.

The Château du Chambon has a rectangular layout, a large corner tower in the northwest, and a half-projecting stair tower in the middle of the south façade. It is a fortified house from the 15th century with carefully crafted woodwork from the 19th century. As a whole, it was listed as a historic monument by a protection order dated July 28, 1998.

Hiking and Landscapes

PR015 Le Tour du Pié du Roi is a difficult 9.5 km hiking route with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes and an elevation gain of 225 meters. The route passes the crater of Pié du Roi and the basalt cliffs of Blot, which overlook the Allier. It is signposted with the Petite Randonnée trail marking.

PR018 Esplot is an easy 7.7 km hiking route in Cerzat with an estimated duration of 2 hours. Along the route, there are views of the Allier Valley, the Massif de Combeneyre, and Margeride.

Farm Products

La Ferme du Blot offers cheese, raw milk, and green lentils with PDO status among its farm products.
