Culture

The Menhir de Saint-Jeures is a menhir and archaeological site at La Croix de Pierre in Saint-Jeures. It is attributed to the Neolithic period and is protected as a historic monument following its designation by decree of 5 January 1989.

The Église de Saint Jeures was originally a Romanesque castle chapel dating from the 12th century and was remodelled in the 15th and 17th centuries. The interior of the Maison de béate de Pouzols illustrates the former domestic, teaching, chapel-related and lace-making functions of the béate.

The ruins of the Abbaye de Bellecombe are located in the surrounding area of Saint-Jeures. The wider regional area also contains the ruins of the “Ruins du château de Mézanc”, the historic site of the “Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Séauve-Bénite” and the “Fortresse de Polignac” castle.
