Goudet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Goudet, the Loire flows below basalt cliffs; along its banks there are small beaches that invite visitors to swim. Thus, the river landscape and striking rock formations meet directly in the village.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Goudet can take this preference into account when choosing accommodation.
Nature
Swimming at the beaches in Goudet is permitted, but the beaches are not supervised. The beaches are located upstream and downstream from the Pont de la Loire and offer opportunities for swimming in the Loire.
Hiking
The PR583 La draille des muletiers is an easy 6.9 km circular hike with 325 m of ascent. It starts and ends in Goudet and leads through varied landscapes around the wild Loire. The GR 70 Chemin de Stevenson also passes through Goudet.
Culture and History
The Château fort de Beaufort has been protected as a historic monument by decree dated 7 February 1994. At the behest of Lambert de Goudet, the Château de Beaufort was built in the 13th century on a rocky promontory situated like a peninsula in a bend of the Loire. Visits to the Château de Beaufort are possible throughout the year by prior appointment outside working days.
The Eglise de Goudet stands on the site of a former Benedictine priory, of which only a few remains have survived. The tower of the Eglise de Goudet has a spire covered with glazed tiles; such tiles are rare in the Velay.
