Vézac: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Cultural highlights in Vézac include Château de Caillac. It is listed as a historic monument; the protection was registered on 10 November 1997 and covers the entire château, including the protected interiors, the park arboretum, the portal, the chapel and the barn with stable.

Château de Caillac developed from a medieval fortress. In the 16th century, the staircase and part of the façade were designed, among other features; in the 17th century, the eastern façade was clad, and interior features were created in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the 19th century, a park with a diverse collection of trees was also laid out, which is considered an arboretum in the region.

The château of Vézac also has an eventful history: it was rebuilt in 1476, later occupied by Huguenots, besieged and destroyed by the troops of M. de Saint-Hérem, and subsequently rebuilt and once again inhabited by the de Salles family. The Église Saint Roch in Vézac is a Romanesque church dating from the 15th century. It contains a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary with an altarpiece, as well as a chapel dedicated to Saint Roch with a traditional statue.

The historic Manoir de Salles, also spelled Sales, is situated on a hill near Vézac and offers views across the Cère Valley to Polminhac and beyond. Those choosing Vézac as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.

Trails and nature

The Balade parmi les hameaux de Vézac is an 11 km circular trail with a duration of 3 hours and a moderate level of difficulty. It starts at the car park by the village shops and leads along the Chemin du Prince and the Sentier musical.

The Tour du Golf is a 1.2 km route on a paved or gravel path alongside the Vézac golf course. It offers views of the surrounding countryside and Château de Salles and passes the garden of varieties. The Vézac Dousques route can be extended by 2.5 km to make a circuit around the golf course.

The Vézac Dousques route passes through a wooded landscape at the first slate-dominated foothills; signs of martens and deer can be found there.
