Meaulne: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the centre of Meaulne, the Aumance and Cher rivers meet. A bridge crosses the Aumance, with arches made of pink granite. The Jardin de la Cure was designed as a communal green space with medicinal and aromatic plants and was intended to be open to everyone.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Symphorien, including its wall paintings, has been listed as a historic monument by decree of 30 September 1991. Inside, it features Italianate frescoes from the first half of the 18th century.

A circular route to seven washhouses is approximately 15 km long. Along the Canal de Berry, Meaulne-Vitray offers opportunities for walks on foot, on horseback and by bicycle. There are resting places under the trees along the Aumance.

Fishing and Local Event

The Esox Meaulnois association manages 5 km of fishing waters on the Aumance, from the Passerelle des Seignes to its confluence with the Cher. The association manages a further 5 km of fishing waters along the Canal de Berry, from the La Queugne lock upstream to the downstream municipal boundary.

The Fête de la pêche organised by ESOX usually takes place on the first Sunday in June. It is preceded by the stocking of trout and followed by a rustic meal at the Meaulne campsite.

In Meaulne, “PÉPIT: Rouir et découvrir” is an outdoor geocaching treasure hunt. In “PÉPIT: Rouir et découvrir”, Meaulne’s water-related cultural heritage provides the basis for the clues. After finding the treasure, collectible rewards are available.

The Jardin de la Cure is intended to include a small educational garden for schoolchildren.
