Audes: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

Audes is also home to a processional statue of Saint Hubert, which is polychrome-painted and gilded and dates from the 18th century.

At the Château de la Crête, visible remains of a 13th-century fortress surrounded by moats can still be seen. The present-day Château de la Crête is a 19th-century Neo-Gothic ensemble adjoining the former chapel.

The Musée du Canal de Berry is located in Magnette in Audes. It presents the history of canal transport from the construction of the Canal de Berry to its closure.

Walks and Trails

The “Audes à travers ses vieilles pierres” circular walk is 3.8 km long and starts at the Église Saint-Denis. A downloadable visitor booklet is available for this walk.

Audes is also home to the PR8 Circuit du Canal de Berry. The PR1 Circuit à la découverte des Châteaux is designated as a hiking route.

Sightseeing

The Musée du Canal de Berry is 250 metres from Magnette railway station. The grounds of the Château de la Crête can be visited by appointment as part of a self-guided visit.
