The southern part of the Château-Charles Forest is located within the territory of Vernusse. The Puy-Guillon stream, also known as the Courtine, flows through the village and empties into the Bouble, a tributary of the Sioule.

Culture and history
The Château de Puy-Guillon dates from the 13th century and is classified as a historic monument. Since 2 July 2010, it has been listed in its entirety as a historic monument. The protection includes, among other things, the interior furnishings, the upper terrace fortification with courtyard, chalets and stairs, the lower enclosure with outbuildings, the service courtyard, the well and its enclosure, as well as the entire property with the gardens laid out to the south.
The oldest parts of the Église Saint-Martin de Vernusse date from the Romanesque period. It houses a small collection of religious art objects. The Romanesque church in Vernusse also contains restored and classified objects, including a depiction of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child.
