The former Saint-Pierre de Châteloy parish church is also one of the area’s defining cultural attractions: it is predominantly Romanesque, contains wall paintings from the 14th to the 16th centuries and has Monument historique status. In summer, concerts are organised there by the Festival de Musique en Bourbonnais. The 14th- and 15th-century Porte de Gateuil once guarded the old bridge and the access route from Soulongis. The gate can be reached from the south and east.

For active days, Hérisson has four marked hiking trails. The Sentier de l’Aumance is a 13.7-kilometre circular route starting in Hérisson. The Circuit des Oiseaux runs along the banks of the Aumance and, depending on the migration season, offers the chance to hear numerous birds associated with the river ecosystem.
