Sévignacq-Meyracq: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture and history

The Château d’Etigny is the former lay abbey of Sévignacq and directly borders the parish church of Saint-Pierre in Sévignacq-Meyracq. The church was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century. Since 16 October 1997, Saint-Pierre has been listed in the French inventory of Monuments historiques. The Château d’Etigny and its park stand on a hill and are probably located on the site of an old Castera that watched over the Ossau Valley.

Agriculture and regional products

The Ferme de la Borde Munné in Sévignacq-Meyracq produces pure farm sheep’s cheese on site and offers farm tours. The Ferme Lanouté produces farm cheese made from pure sheep’s milk, cow’s milk and mixed milk, as well as greuil. It sells its products directly from the farm every day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Ferme du Vallon keeps Basque-Béarnaise sheep and Tarine cattle; their milk is processed into tommes, cheese and dairy products, and visitors can learn about the farm.

Trails

The “Les trois croix” route is 4.2 km long and easy. It follows former shepherds’ paths through meadows and forests to Sainte-Colome.

The “Piémont ossalois” cycling loop passes through Sévignacq-Meyracq and along the outer wall of a château.
