Saint-Palais: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The landscaped garden of the Espace Bideak covers 3,000 square metres and contains around 200 plant species. The garden is open to the public free of charge all year round.

Paths and Activities

La Scandibérique from Saint-Palais to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port is 34 kilometres long, takes around four hours by bicycle and is classified as “difficult”. It begins at Place des Allées in Saint-Palais, at the junction of the GR654 and GR655 pilgrimage routes.

The Sentier des contrebandiers riding trail follows the GR65 to Ostabat and passes monasteries and pilgrim steles.

The Centre Équestre-Poney Club offers children aged 4 to 6 a half-hour taster activity, as well as beginner and advanced courses on ponies for children aged 7 to 11 and on horses for older children and adults.

The Saint-Palais pump track next to the skate park has a green course for beginners, a blue course for intermediate riders and a red course for experienced riders.

Pilgrimage Tradition

Saint-Palais bears the “Communes Haltes – Chemins de Compostelle en France” label for the services, facilities and reception that the municipality provides to hikers and pilgrims. Every year on the Sunday after 15 August, the Festival de force basque takes place in Saint-Palais.
