Montory is part of the Montagnes du Barétous Natura 2000 protected area. The Montagne d'Ahargou et Mont Begousse ZNIEFF area also includes the municipality of Montory.

The breeding areas are closed to the public. Falaise d'Arguibelle in Montory offers more than 200 climbing routes with difficulty ratings from 3c to 8c and a maximum height of 95 metres.
Culture and History
Montory Church has a square, five-storey bell tower that is 20 metres high. The church contains a gilded wooden altarpiece from the 18th century, which is listed as a historic monument.
During the reconstruction, three disc-shaped stelae were reused in the church wall. Another is located in the bell tower on the south side, and another in the wall near the right-hand entrance to the churchyard.

Activities
Every year, the members of Montory's municipal cultural group maintain the Tour de Bégousse hiking trail by clearing, cleaning and marking it. The Sommet d'Erretzü hiking trail is maintained by the Communauté des Communes de Soule-Xiberoa.
Route No. 21, “Oloron-Montory, les collines du Pays basque”, is a moderately difficult, approximately 52-kilometre circular cycling route with climbs around Montory.

Directions
From Montory, La Falaise d'Arguibelle can be reached via the D759 towards Haux. At a small bridge 2 kilometres from Montory, turn off and continue for another 2 kilometres to the car park.
