Angous: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Angous combines a striking high-altitude location with a hilly landscape and a distinctive regional border location. The village centre lies on a hill overlooking the entire region, while the Serrot stream crosses the hilly landscape of Angous. At the same time, Angous is the last Béarnaise village on the border with the Basque province of Soule.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-André has a bell tower over the portal and two side chapels. Angous is also home to rare remains of an 18th-century château that formerly belonged to the Faget-Pomps family.

Cuisine

Angous is a stop on the Route des Fromages, where traditionally produced sheep’s cheese is made and tasted. Another link to the cheese-making tradition is the Ferme Serbielle, where farmhouse sheep’s cheese with AOP Ossau-Iraty certification has been produced for more than 20 years.

The Ferme Serbielle is located in peaceful surroundings in the village of Angous. Benat and Michel Erbin welcome visitors to the farm to introduce them to its special features. At the Ferme Serbielle, visitors can also learn about the KINTOA Basque pig with AOP certification. The farm sells preserves, ham, and sunflower and rapeseed oil on site.

Hiking and Trails

The regional hiking trail network provides a connection to Angous via the Chemin des Fromages. The Boucle du Chemin des Fromages begins at the church on the D 69 in Angous. The hiking route runs over natural terrain and has a stated length of 9,000 metres; it is accessible on foot and via the road.
