Nature
Castetpugon is part of the Natura 2000 site “Coteaux de Castetpugon, de Cadillon et de Lembeye”. The orchid-rich dry grasslands cover 250 hectares within a Natura 2000 site that also includes Castetpugon. They are home to numerous orchid species and shape a Mediterranean-looking landscape that is rarely found in south-western France. The dry grasslands owe their existence to clearing and traditional grazing, which are closely linked to agriculture.
An interpretation panel located by the roadside in Castetpugon points out the plots containing orchids. At the interpretation panels in Castetpugon, visitors can identify and determine wild orchids. The orchid-rich dry grasslands can be visited independently. Depending on seasonal development, the orchid flowering period generally lasts from mid-May to mid-June. Culture
The organ case in the Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption is located on the south side of the nave. It is currently considered damaged or in ruins and unplayable. Its façade features 35 tin pipes and rich decoration with volutes, foliage, a fire pot or flame pot, and leaf garlands.
The organ case is presumably made of oak and chestnut wood and is decorated with carved bas-relief as well as foliage, vine-leaf, and volute motifs. The side altar with reredos has been classified as a protected cultural object since 5 September 1984.
