The Cité des Forges is located southwest of Tarnos near the Adour and extends across the municipalities of Boucau and Tarnos; since 2006, it has been protected as a Zone de Protection du Patrimoine Architectural, Urbain et Paysager (ZPPAUP). Its construction campaigns date back to 1884, 1890 and 1898.
Boucau has a tour with five information panels about the town’s historical heritage. The exhibition offers audio versions in Basque, Gascon and French. There is also an exhibition permanently installed in the public space.
The Apollo is a historic cultural centre in the Art Deco style. Cultural and leisure events take place there throughout the year. The Fêtes du Boucau will take place from 22 to 25 May 2026.
Nature
Bois Guilhou is a 20-hectare area designated as an Espaces Naturels Sensibles (ENS) in the centre of Boucau. Bois Guilhou has five signposted paths and picnic tables.
The former Cale dates back to a facility built in 1732 to protect the boats of pilots and mooring crews. As a walking route, the Cale is open to everyone and offers views of the Adour.
The public garden on Rue Joseph Saint-André in the town centre is open for walks and relaxation and has picnic tables for visitors.
Geographical location
Boucau is located on the Adour and just a few steps from the ocean. Boucau also has a TER railway station on the Hendaye–Bordeaux line.
