Culture
The Église Saint-Vincent is a Renaissance church in the Spanish style, with defensive musket loopholes, a bell tower crowned by a terrace, a sundial and sculpted ornamentation. At the entrance to Urrugne stands the Château d’Urtubie, a well-preserved historic monument.
Around the Chapelle de Socorri, numerous disc-shaped stelae decorated with sun motifs mark the graves of victims of the 1855 cholera epidemic. During the Marian festivals, the Chapelle de Socorri in Urrugne remains a pilgrimage site.
Nature and Trails
The Corniche Basque is approximately ten kilometres long, stretches from Ciboure to Hendaye and runs for a large part through the municipality of Urrugne. It features high flysch cliffs, views of the ocean and a diverse, distinctive range of animal and plant life.
The trail through the Intzola Valley runs through a shady valley with a stream, small cascades and dragonflies and follows historic paths, including a former Roman road. The Sentier d’Errensu provides insights into mountain and natural areas shaped by forests, former quarries, the work of shepherds and old paths.
The Xoldoko Gaina circular trail is an easy 6.2-kilometre hiking route with a duration of around two hours. In the Olhette district of Urrugne, the Centre équestre Larrun Alde offers guided rides and trail rides lasting from two hours to a full day, including sunset excursions with a tasting platter.
