Ascain lies at the foot of La Rhune. At the same time, the tides of the Nivelle can be felt as far as the Pont Romain, where the boundary between the river and maritime environments lies.

Culture
The Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption has been listed as a historic monument by decree of 1 February 1988. It preserves medieval traces; its present form dates from the 16th and 17th centuries.
For four generations, the Lartigue family has preserved the art of weaving Basque linen.

The hiking trail Le sentier des sommets leads over open, panoramic mountain ridges overlooking Basque villages, the stone shepherds' huts of La Rhune and the Atlantic horizon.
La Rhune, a mountain, is located in the vicinity of Ascain. The surrounding area also includes Petit Larroun, a mountain, Érintsou, a mountain, and Ibanteli, a summit.
Hiking
The hiking trail Le sentier des sommets is 10.2 km long, takes approximately 3 hours on foot, has a moderate difficulty level and 480 m of elevation gain, and is designated as suitable for families.
Le sentier des sommets begins in the centre of Ascain, between the fronton and the disc-shaped steles.

Cidrerie Berri offers free visits with a tasting of local cider throughout the year, as well as a traditional cider-house menu. Akerbeltz offers free, self-guided brewery visits throughout the year, as well as tastings, a shop and a bar.
