Culture and history
The parish church of Saint-Pierre de la Croix was built around the middle of the 12th century and extensively restored in the 16th century. It preserves significant Romanesque masonry remains and a roof structure dating from the late Middle Ages.
Saint-Pierre de Cabannes is a 12th-century church with a semicircular apse and a rectangular nave. A masonry bell tower was added in the 14th or 15th century. The roof structure preserves decorated wooden elements that have rarely survived. The church and the adjacent cemetery were protected as historic monuments by decree of 11 September 1997.
The present parish church of Notre-Dame was rebuilt between 1840 and 1848 on the site of the former castle. The former chapel had been destroyed after the bell tower collapsed in 1838. The attractions of the municipality of Montastruc also include the remains of a fortified castle and local producers.
A house with superimposed beams was built between the 16th and 17th centuries. This house was added to the supplementary list of historic monuments in 1991 because of the ethnological interest in the rarity and considerable age of this rural building type.
