Construction of the Château Féodal de Madaillan began in the mid-13th century and continued until the 16th century. The Château Féodal de Madaillan was built on a hillside and overlooks the surrounding small valleys.

The Église Saint-Denis de Bordes stands at the end of a narrow plateau above the Masse valley. It was completely rebuilt in the late 15th or early 16th century. The church’s bell-tower porch was extended in the second half of the 18th century with a four-storey tower.

The Église Saint-Martin de Doulougnac stands on a narrow plateau above the Bourbon stream. The western parts of its nave walls contain remains of masonry that apparently belonged to a structure dating from before the 12th century. The apse choir, decorated with nine arcades, was built around the middle of the 12th century.

Nature and trails

The circular route “Madaillan, le circuit du plateau de Fraisse” is 6.7 kilometres long and takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes on foot. It leads around the Plateau de Fraisse and follows firm, shaded paths through the small valleys of St-Martin and La Goutère.

Other destinations

The ruins of the Abbaye de Pérignac are located in the vicinity of Madaillan. The Cathédrale Saint-Caprais and the archive “Archives départementales do Lot-et-Garonne” are also located in the surrounding area.
