Culture and history

The Saint-Martin d'Estampon Church in Losse is a Romanesque church that was probably built in the 12th century and features fortified architectural elements. It has a carved and gilded high altar, as well as stained-glass windows from the late 19th century by Gesta. It has been listed as a historic monument since 22 April 1983.

The Romanesque church in Lussolle is dedicated to Saint George and has a bell gable. Its vault, dating from 1546, was destroyed and restored in 1662.

The Church of Notre-Dame in Losse preserves the massive defensive tower of an earlier Romanesque church; its nave and choir were completely rebuilt between 1899 and 1902. The Church of Saint-Pierre in Losse has a fortified square tower dating from the early 20th century.

In the centre of Losse there is a bread oven, which bears witness to the area's local history. Losse also retains an ox-shoeing stand, known as a métier à ferrer.

The Sources de Moncaut in the municipality of Losse comprise three healing springs attributed to Saint George and also dedicated to Saint Anthony and Saint Eutropius. Visitors can see a stone oratory from the 16th century, a stele topped by a stone cross, and three cisterns marking the springs' outlets.

Nature

The area around Losse is rural and agricultural in character, with predominantly forested landscapes. The Losse Forest contains numerous small, circular freshwater lagoons, each covering less than one hectare.

The Plan d'eau de Losse offers a nature trail with an arboretum and adapted signage, a picnic area, and footpaths along the Losse, around the lake, and connecting with the town centre. There are fishing pontoons managed by the AAPPMA de Gabarret.

Trails and seasons

The route there is open in spring and summer and closed during the hunting season and in winter. The Circuit de la Gare circular trail in Losse is 4.8 km long, very easy, and starts in Lussolle; it runs along a former railway line and through remarkable landscape areas.
