The Mayades or Maïades are a traditional festival of southwestern France, particularly the Landes de Gascogne, and are listed in the French Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage. These folk customs mark the beginning of the beautiful season in early May.
In Herm, the Mayade is organised by young people from the respective age group aged 18 to 19; in addition, May trees are erected there every year in honour of the municipality and its elected officials.
The Sainte-Madeleine Church was built in 1863 to replace the older church, whose condition had become unacceptable. Château de Dax, a historic site, is located in the area around Herm. Cathédrale Notre-Dame, a church, is also located in the area around Herm.
