Labastide-D'armagnac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Labastide-d’Armagnac, historic buildings and the culture of Armagnac come together. The former Protestant Temple des Bastides was built in 1607 and is now used for temporary exhibitions. The Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church is also part of the village’s cultural heritage: it features a listed trompe-l’œil dating from 1831 that covers the rear wall of the choir, and it is registered as a historic monument.

Culture and History

The Château du Prada was built in 1764 by Victor Louis for the de Bouglon family. During a tour, visitors can see the monumental staircase, antique furniture, fireplaces and the cellars containing old Armagnac. Independent travellers can explore the monuments of Labastide-d’Armagnac using information boards; a visitor map is available free of charge on request.

Armagnac

The Ecomusée de l’Armagnac presents the history, production and terroir of Armagnac, as well as the animal and plant life of the region. The Ecomusée also includes a cultural delicatessen boutique.

The Terra-Aventura trail “Longue vie à l’Armagnac” adds a 3 km walking geocaching activity focusing on the history, production and ageing of Armagnac. The trail is free of charge and takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Nature and Trails

The “Circuit de la ronde des Châteaux” circular trail starts in Labastide-d’Armagnac, is 12.8 km long and combines nature with the architectural heritage of the Armagnac region. The circular trail is currently closed.

Events

The summer festival l’Oreille en place takes place over several days every summer in the centre of Labastide-d’Armagnac and combines theatre, music and conferences. During the Armagnac en Fête festival, the Place Royale in Labastide-d’Armagnac comes alive for two days with markets, concerts, meals, distillation and other events centred around Armagnac.

Cycling

Since 1959, the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Cyclistes has preserved a collection of jerseys belonging to famous cyclists, as well as unusual bicycles.
