Saint-Cyprien: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Since June 2021, Saint-Cyprien has been one of the Petites Cités de Caractère due to its densely built medieval town centre, which is grouped around the abbey church. The village’s origins date back to the 6th century and are associated with the arrival of the hermit Cyprien in the Fages caves above the village around 620.

Culture and History

The Château de Fages dates back to the 12th century and was almost completely rebuilt in the Renaissance style between the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Its chapel and castle ruins were protected as historic monuments by decree of 13 April 1933, while the Renaissance pavilion was classified by decree of 9 September 1965. A guided tour of the Château de Fages covers only the Renaissance section.

The Église Saint-Cyprien dates from the 13th and 14th centuries and has been classified as a historic monument since 22 March 1923.

Landscape

South of Saint-Cyprien lie the alluvial plain of the Dordogne Valley and open agricultural landscapes. Around 75 per cent of the municipality consists of hills and slopes characteristic of the Causse vert; in places, rocky escarpments formed by karst erosion can be found. Saint-Cyprien has Natura 2000 and biosphere reserve designations.

Discoveries and Trails

The Sentier de l’Ermite is an urban walking route with a distinctly rural character. Along the route, the history of Saint-Cyprien from its origins to the present day is presented, and visitors can also discover beautiful panoramas. Tèrra Aventura in Saint-Cyprien is a free digital geocaching treasure hunt.

The approximately 11-kilometre Boucle du Pont du Garrit passes the two bridges Pont du Garrit and Pont d’Allas-les-Mines. It follows the Dordogne through nature as an informative walking route.

The Randoland discovery trails offer families with children a tour of the village with themed worksheets for young participants; the materials for Saint-Cyprien are available from the tourist office.

The themed tour focusing on the wine-growing heritage leads across the slopes of Saint-Cyprien to the Domaine de la Voie Blanche. There, it includes an educational visit to the organically farmed vineyard, which is cultivated using traditional methods. The Domaine de la Voie Blanche also offers visitors a walk through landscaped vineyards where the grapes are harvested by hand, as well as a tasting of organically produced wines.

At the Marché de Saint-Cyprien, local producers offer fresh, regional and seasonal products. In 2026, the market takes place every Sunday from 4 January to 27 December.

On the Place de Mackenheim in the town centre, there is a parking area reserved for motorhomes, with a service area for replenishing drinking water and emptying wastewater.
